Optiml feature
Your province's brackets, credits and rules, applied to every year of your retirement.
Each one has its own brackets, credits and rules. Optiml applies the ones where you live, from Ontario's surtax and Health Premium to Quebec's own tax rules and British Columbia's indexation pause from 2027 to 2030.
Your tax is calculated for each spouse in every year of your plan, with brackets and credits indexed as the rules require, so your plan sees what each decision really costs.
How it works
Employment, pensions, CPP, OAS, rentals and withdrawals each carry their own tax treatment. Tell Optiml your province and it applies the right rules.
Federal and provincial brackets, credits and levies, and the OAS recovery tax, for each spouse, in every year of your plan.
Pay the least lifetime tax, spend more or leave more behind. Optiml tests withdrawals, start ages and income splitting toward that goal.
Your Taxes and Cash Flow pages show what you pay, year by year, so you can see what each decision changes.
Good to know
Most of this is automatic. Tell Optiml your province, and its rules are applied to every year of your plan.
Optiml calculates federal and provincial tax for each spouse, for every year of your plan, using the brackets, credits and rules where you live. Because the tax is worked out year by year rather than estimated with one average rate, Optiml can see what each withdrawal, benefit start age and pension split does to your bill, then optimize toward the goal you choose.
Federal and provincial brackets rise with inflation where the law says they do. British Columbia's brackets and credit amounts are held at 2026 levels from 2027 to 2030, and your plan follows that.
The basic personal amount, CPP and EI credits, the age amount, the pension income credit, charitable donations, medical expenses and the disability amount are calculated for you.
Add any other credit, refundable or not, federal or provincial, for the years it applies. Add deductions such as union dues, professional fees and child care. Each can be indexed to inflation or kept fixed.
Ontario's surtax and Health Premium, Quebec's abatement on federal tax, drug insurance plan premium and deduction for workers, and each province's own brackets and credit amounts.
Eligible pension income is split between spouses where the rules allow it, as part of your plan.
Your plan measures the OAS recovery tax each year, and the OAS Clawback Reducer strategy shapes withdrawals to keep income under the threshold.
Interest that is tax deductible, such as on an investment loan, comes off your taxable income in the year it is paid.
Plan for spending that changes as you age, with Go-Go, Slow-Go and No-Go years set your way.
Your home, cottage, land and rentals, each modelled on its own, with every purchase and sale on the calendar.
Test any decision before you make it.
Take control of your financial future.
