As an AI Developer at Optiml, you’ll build and deploy AI systems that help everyday users understand and optimize their financial futures - without needing a traditional advisor. This is a full-time, in-office role for someone who thrives on ownership, innovation, and moving fast. You’ll lead the development of a RAG-powered AI assistant that can interpret complex financial data and deliver clear, human-like answers about taxes, retirement, and investment strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Build an AI system that reads and interprets structured financial plan data (JSON), extracting key insights like taxable income, withdrawals, contributions, and investment growth

• Design and implement a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline to power natural language responses to complex user questions about tax planning, retirement, and financial projections

• Generate clear, helpful, and human-like natural language responses from structured financial data

• Work closely with our development team to integrate your work into the Optiml platform and improve the user experience

• Monitor AI system performance, adapt to evolving tax laws, and iterate quickly based on real-world usage

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying AI systems in production

• Proven experience with RAG systems, from architecture to implementation

• Strong Python skills and familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or LangChain

• Solid understanding of NLP and how to translate user intent into intelligent responses

• Familiarity with the Canadian tax system and investment accounts

• Strong communication skills, especially when explaining AI-driven insights to non-technical teammates

• A self-starter who enjoys problem-solving, iterating quickly, and shipping real product
